taki mundo was established in March 2007 as a non-profit and politically neutral organisation with the sole intention to support deaf and hearing-impaired young people living in simple and poor conditions in Uruapan, Mexico.

taki is a word in P’hurépecha (Mexican dialect) and means girl, boy.
mundo is Spanish and means world.
