How do we help
Taki mundo is a politically neutral, non-profit organisation, established on March 3rd, 2007.
It is our goal to support deaf and hearing-impaired youngsters in Uruapan (Michoacān Mexico)
living in simple and poor conditions.
We want to open an education centre on a secondary school level, which will include a silk-screen
printing workshop.
Our main concern is finding continuous sponsorship to finance our education centre in the long term.
With the initial funds available we intend to furnish the school.
Goals
Our silk-screen printing workshop offers a meaningful occupation for handicapped people after
they have finished their compulsory school term. As everybody else, we want them to have a
job to strengthen their self-esteem and also to contribute financially to the development of
the education centre. At a later stage, we would like to extend our infrastructure and
teaching aids to offer other handicapped people the opportunity to visit our school.
In 2008 we hope to be able to teach the first lessons at our education centre.
Funds
To fully furnish the school we need 21’000.00 Swiss Francs. Our efforts
to raise this money are ongoing. An additional CHF 84’000.00 are needed to maintain the
school every year. The silk-screen workshop is not yet budgeted for.
